Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs
Proverbs 28:14 Happy is the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.
Yesterday we saw that the person who covers their sins will not prosper. Proverbs 28:13.
Today we see the man who fears always, (The indication is of the man who fears God.) is happy.
Psalms 112:1 Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.
The person who is forgiven is the person who rejoices in the fact and lives in the fear of the Lord.
However, the person who becomes careless in His walk with the Lord and hardens his or hers heart toward the Lord will eventually fall into mischief.
God has given us a wonderful passage to help us with the principle of being happy in the Lord. In Psalm one we find the word “blessed” which is also the word happy.
Psalm 1:1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. 4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. 5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
The fear of the Lord is our guide post.
Proverbs 8:13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
The choice is still yours,
