Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs
Proverbs 2:1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; 2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; 3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; 4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; 5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. 6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. 7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. 8 He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.
Proverbs 2 is written as instruction to the person who would receive the words. There are many who would not receive the words of the Lord. The first step of wisdom is to receive it.
All through the scriptures the Lord gives us His word, in fact the bible is God’s word by revelation of God Himself and through inspiration written for us.
2Peter 1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
Men who wrote by inspiration of God such as Matthew, Mark, Luke and John (Wrote the gospels) were men yielded and submitted to the will of God and the Holy Ghost in writing the word of God.
2Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
To receive, hearken, listen and believe God’s word is the first step toward wisdom. As we will see throughout this study of Proverbs, wisdom affects every aspect of life and your spiritual relationship with God.
Do you cry after wisdom as a child cries for something it desires? Do you search and seek wisdom and silver and hidden treasure?
Proverbs 2:5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
We have the completed word of God today. We have everything God would have us to know; we have the wisdom of God’s word.
Proverbs 2:6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
He spoke and from His very mouth He gave us the wisdom of God.
Proverbs 2:7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.
God’s wisdom is laid up for you, it awaits.
Today, we have the written word of God and the spirit of God that helps us know the wisdom of God.
John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
Ephesians 1:16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; 17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: 18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
We, are responsible to God and the word of God as given by the inspired men of God. It is called the bible.
Deuteronomy 18:18 I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. 19 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.
To whom much is given, much is required.
The choice is still yours,
