Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs

Proverbs 16:4  The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil. 5  Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished. 6  By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.

God is the creator of this world. You are part of God’s creation; ergo, you are responsible to God. There are no two ways around it, you belong to God.

In Proverbs four we find the Lord made everything for himself, yes, even the wicked for the day of evil. We know that “the wicked” is anyone who is without salvation in Christ Jesus. We have seen that on many occasions.

The proud heart as in verse five is the heart of those who resist God and may even other together against God; it will be to no avail, because God is their creator as well.

Psalm 2:1  Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing 2  The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, 3  Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. 4  He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. 5  Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.

In the end, every knee shall bow and every person will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the Glory of God the Father. (Isaiah 45:23,  Romans 14:11 and Philippians 2:10)

We find in Proverbs 16:6 that there is a way to escape the day of evil or the day of God’s wrath. Proverbs 16:6  By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.

One yay the mercy and truth of God can one change. That mercy and truth come from Jesus.

Romans 9:16  So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy. 17  For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth. 18  Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth. 19  Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will? 20  Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? 21  Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? 22  What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction: 23  And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory, 24  Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?

John 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

2John 1:3  Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

You can remain wicked for the day of evil and you can remain fitted for destruction or, you can come to Jesus and be born again into a new life, a glorious new life in mercy and truth fitted for heaven.

You can humble yourself to God through the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved.

James 4:6  But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

James 4:10  Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

The choice is still your,
