Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs
Proverbs 25:20 As he that taketh away a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar upon nitre, so is he that singeth songs to an heavy heart.
Have you ever received or have you ever given someone false or unsavoury or counsel that was of no value? Have you ever placated someone with false promises or with words of no use?
Proverbs 25:20 is about giving information of no use, or singing songs to someone rather than truly helping them. “Oh, let’s just sing about our troubles rather than fixing them.”
Such actions are like taking away the coat of someone leaving them cold in the winter. Such actions are like pouring vinegar on baking soda and watching foam up leaving nothing but a mess. It does nothing to help the person in need.
If someone is going to help another person, fix the cause not the symptom. Singing songs about your troubles and doing nothing to fix them leaves a person in the same state or worse than when they started.
Have you ever heard someone say, “I got your back” and they never follow through with their pledge. That’s like singing songs to a heavy heart, it gives sympathy but never results.
That takes us back to verse Proverbs 25:19 Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.
Proverbs 12:17 He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.
You can offer true help or just sing songs which accomplish nothing.
Romans 12:9 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. 10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; 11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; 12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; 13 Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality. 14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. 15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. 16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.
Galatians 6:1 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. 2 Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
Our Lord Jesus Christ came to offer true help and that is salvation in Christ Jesus our Lord. Salvation is the beginning of true help for it starts with Jesus and ends with heaven and that my friend lasts forever.
Jesus didn’t just sings songs to heavey hearts, He changes the heart.
Romans 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
2Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
The choice is still yours,
