Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs
Proverbs 25:21 If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink: 22 For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward thee.
Romans 12:20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. 21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
Matthew 5:43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
Enemies are those whom are against you and persecute you or belittle you or make your life miserable. The enemies of Christ are those who are against Him.
The principle this morning is that we are to love our enemies. Some find it hard to love their friends and family let alone enemies. I see husbands and wives fighting, and family members against each other and yet, God says to love our enemies.
1John 4:20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
If we cannot love those close to us how can we love those who are our enemies?
My friend, Love for your enemy or your brother does not mean you condone whatever they do especially when it comes to that which will eventually destroy them and bring them into a condemning judgment with God.
Love helps them and points them to that which will change their life for good, namely the goodness of God.
Jesus never condones the ugly things which take place in this world, instead He being prefect, gave His life to save the soul.
Romans 5:6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. 8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. 10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
To be reconciled to God by Jesus Christ means one is no longer His enemy. In Fact you become a Christian (in the true sense of the word) and child of God.
Are you an enemy of Christ? Are you an enemy of Christianity embracing a pseudo christianity? Jesus said in Luke 11:23 βHe that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth.β
Galatians 4:16 Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?
Proverbs 25:21 If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink: 22 For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward thee.
The choice is still yours,
