Morning Devotion: Read Exodus - God Hears Israel's Groaning

Exodus 2:23  And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage. 24  And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob. 25  And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God had respect unto them.

God’s people, Israel began to sigh, to be discouraged and they began to cry. Their cry came to God and God remembered the covenant that Hs made with Abraham.

In Genesis chapter 15 we find that covenant and we find that God ratified that covenant Himself.

Hebrews 6:13  For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself, 14  Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee.

Genesis 15:13  And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years; 14  And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.

Genesis 15:18  In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:19  The Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites, 20  And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims, 21  And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.

God remembered the covenant to promise He made with Israel. He also knew  how He would handle the situation. He had a man, and this man’s name was Moses. Moses was born and brought up for such a time as this.

Psalm 18:6  In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.

Psalm 40:1  To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.

Psalm 106:44  Nevertheless he regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry:

Psalm 50:15  And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.

Jeremiah 33:3  Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

My friend, when things get tough and times become difficult, there is one who hears your cry. There is one who is concerned and desire to meet your need.

Would you go to Jesus?

Matthew 11:28  Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29  Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

1Peter 5:7  Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

When one realizes they need Jesus and they need to be saved, and they turn to God crying for such, God will hear and God will answer.

Romans 10:12  For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Jesus said in John 6:37  “All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.”

Do you see your need and would you cry unto God to find help in time of need?

He will hear and He will remember and He will help in your time of need.

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
