Morning Devotion: Read Exodus - Promised Future
Exodus 3:16 Go, and gather the elders of Israel together, and say unto them, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, appeared unto me, saying, I have surely visited you, and seen that which is done to you in Egypt: 17 And I have said, I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt unto the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, unto a land flowing with milk and honey. 18 And they shall hearken to thy voice: and thou shalt come, thou and the elders of Israel, unto the king of Egypt, and ye shall say unto him, The LORD God of the Hebrews hath met with us: and now let us go, we beseech thee, three days' journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the LORD our God. 19 And I am sure that the king of Egypt will not let you go, no, not by a mighty hand. 20 And I will stretch out my hand, and smite Egypt with all my wonders which I will do in the midst thereof: and after that he will let you go. 21 And I will give this people favour in the sight of the Egyptians: and it shall come to pass, that, when ye go, ye shall not go empty: 22 But every woman shall borrow of her neighbour, and of her that sojourneth in her house, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment: and ye shall put them upon your sons, and upon your daughters; and ye shall spoil the Egyptians.
Exodus 3:14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: (God from everlasting to everlasting, the first and the last the beginning and the end is now giving a promise and purpose to Moses.)
What is your purpose in this world? To what end are you here upon this earth?
Why are you here?
Moses was chosen by God to do a great service. He was to be the one who would be sent to Pharaoh speaking for God to let His people go.
Romans 11:29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
God said He would use Moses to bring the people out of the afflictions of Egypt. He said He would give the Hebrews favour in the eyes of the Egyptians and they would leave Egypt with great spoil.
God said He would do great wonders in Egypt.
Moses was to be there for all of God’s wonderful acts of great power and kindness on the behalf of Israel.
We all look forward to the blessings of God and the great wonders and workings of the Lord in our lives. But, have you considered the course those wonders and workings will take?
Exodus 3:19 And I am sure that the king of Egypt will not let you go, no, not by a mighty hand. 20 And I will stretch out my hand, and smite Egypt with all my wonders which I will do in the midst thereof: and after that he will let you go.
God told Moses to expect trouble, expect rejection and expect trials.
We all want the blessings of the Lord in our lives but, are we willing to stay the course when the trials come? The trials are often there to refine you and make you a better person.
Job 23:10 But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold. 11 My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined. 12 Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.
James 1:2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. 4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
What are you facing today? Face it with the lord and watch the great wonders and workings He has in store for you.
The choice is still yours,
Pastor Cook
