Morning Devotion: Read Exodus - What is in your hand?

Exodus 4:1  And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The LORD hath not appeared unto thee. 2  And the LORD said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod. 3  And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it. 4  And the LORD said unto Moses, Put forth thine hand, and take it by the tail. And he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand: 5  That they may believe that the LORD God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath appeared unto thee. 6  And the LORD said furthermore unto him, Put now thine hand into thy bosom. And he put his hand into his bosom: and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous as snow. 7  And he said, Put thine hand into thy bosom again. And he put his hand into his bosom again; and plucked it out of his bosom, and, behold, it was turned again as his other flesh. 8  And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe thee, neither hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign. 9  And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe also these two signs, neither hearken unto thy voice, that thou shalt take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land: and the water which thou takest out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land.

The power to do the will of God does not rest upon your strength; the power to do the will of God rest totally upon God and your willingness to yield to Him.

Moses was concerned that the Egyptians would not hear him nor regard him or believe anything he said. They would not believe he spoke with God or that God spoke with him.

Our modern society is the same way today. Many will not hear the man of God but will believe a host of other things. They will follow anything except God.

God demonstrated His power to Moses. He asked “What is that in thine hand?”

Moses had a staff in his hand and after throwing it to the ground, God turned it into a snake. At first Moses was afraid and ran from the staff turned into a snake. God had Moses pick it up and it turned back into a staff. Don’t be afraid to use what God has placed in your hands to serve Him.

My friend, God can use anything and do with anything He wishes to demonstrate His power. What is in your hand?

God then told Moses to put his hand in his shirt and bring it back out again. When Moses did so, his hand was came out leprous. God told Moses to place it back into his shirt and take it out again. When Moses did so, it was changed back as normal flesh.

My friend, God can use you, just the way you are, to do great things for Him.

Matthew 28:18  And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

The power to do the will of God does not depend upon your strength; the power to do the will of God rest totally upon God and your willingness to yield to Him.

God proved to Moses that He had power over inanimate objects and over the body itself. God has power over the very soul of mankind. All power is God’s; would you completely trust in Him?

My friend, God has power over salvation as well. He wants all men to be saved, however, salvation is bestowed in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ who is God manifest in the flesh.

John 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

My unsaved friend would you yield to the Lord for salvation?

Christian, would you yield what you have to God? Would let God use you to reach this world for Him?

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
