Morning Devotion: Read Exodus - Meeting with Pharaoh

Exodus 5:1  And afterward Moses and Aaron went in, and told Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness. 2  And Pharaoh said, Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go.

Moses had his first opportunity to meet with Pharaoh king of Egypt. The first words he uses is “Thus saith the Lord God of Israel”.

Four hundred and thirteen times the Old Testament records those very same words. “Thus saith the Lord.”

My dear friend, when God speaks it is imperative that we listen, take heed and obey for God’s does not return to Him void and it will accomplish all that He says.

Isaiah 55:11  So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

God’s word will not return unto Him void, it will accomplish everything He said, it will either save or condemn a man. It is the same word that spoke the world into existence and brought light and life to being. It is the word of God.

As said before, man proposes, God disposes. Man can try to negotiate and negate and nullify God’s word but he can change nothing.

Everything happening in the world today has already been told us by God. The world is fast tracking to toward the tribulation and the next millennium just as God said. No one can stop God’s word.

We will find in the book of Exodus that the king of Egypt tried to stop God’s word. He, by ignorance did exactly what God said he would do. God said Pharaoh would harden his heart and sure enough Pharaoh hardened his heart.

Exodus 5:2  And Pharaoh said, Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go.

The sad part of verse two is the fact that Pharaoh did not know the Lord. He said; “I know not the Lord.”

Much of what happens today is because men do not know the Lord. Much of what happens to believers is because men do not know the Lord.

John 16:3  And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.

Romans 1:28  And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

The believer knows God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 John 5:20  And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

John 17:3  And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

Pharaoh, definitely did not know God and hardened his heart toward the things  of God. (“I know not the Lord.”)

Do you know God? To know God is to know Jesus Christ, No Jesus, No God; Know Jesus, Know God.

John 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
