Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs

Proverbs 27:11  My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him that reproacheth me.

Proverbs 10:1  The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.

Proverbs 15:20  A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother.

Proverbs 23:15  My son, if thine heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine.16  Yea, my reins shall rejoice, when thy lips speak right things.

Proverbs 23:24  The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him. 25  Thy father and thy mother shall be glad, and she that bare thee shall rejoice.

Do you get the point?

A wise child will bring honour to the parents, an unwise child will not. The unwise child will bring reproach to the parents who will have nothing good to say in defence.

Those who defend the unwise child will eventually regret it creating a cost that may be unbearable later. No one likes to visit their child in prison. No one likes to endure the court cost of defence or restitution. No one likes to give away their hard earned money to rescue a child who unwisely spends in riots living. No one enjoys having to answer for an unwise child.

I am reminded of the recent ongoing court case of a youth pastor who violated his walk with God and his trust with the young by sending pictures of himself to children. His father, the pastor, no doubt, has great consternation over how he is to answer for his son’s actions. I’m sure the entire church is suffering by the actions of this unwise person.

I had a preacher once admonish us with great words. “Christians need to be Christians who are Christians indeed.” Pastor Stone

If you are a Christian, honour your heavenly Father; think right, live right, do right so that God does not have to answer for you in a negative yet loving way.

(Hebrews 12:5-13)

Hebrews 4:14  Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

1Timothy 6:12  Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

Hebrews 10:23  Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

If you call yourself a Christian, act like it.

Proverbs 27:11  My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him that reproacheth me.

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
