Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs
Proverbs 27:12 A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself; but the simple pass on, and are punished.
Prudence means caution; prudence coupled with wisdom is very, very good. The prudent person sees the evil in every situation and hides or chooses not to participate. But, the simple person or the person without prudence chooses to forsake caution enjoining himself to the trouble that awaits.
This verse is a repeat of chapter 22:3 “A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.”
There are places one should not go because they are evil.
3John 1:11 Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.
If you desire to know what is good and what is evil, just take a long look into God’s word. The word of God will tell you what is evil and what is good. The prudent man will choose the good and forsake the evil thereby protecting himself.
Recently in our local news, there was a young man who was murdered in a bar. It was late at night, the atmosphere was one of drunkenness and violence. Yet, this young man chose to enter the establishment, choosing evil when he could have passed by. The end was tragic.
Apply that to any situation, any circumstance (whether it be personal, local, national, or global) and evaluate if what you are choosing to partake in is evil or good.
You always have a choice in the direction of which you travel. You always have choice to hide from evil, avoid it, or enter into it and reap the reward of it.
The Lord offers you an eternal option when it comes to evil and good it is called salvation in Christ Jesus. Choosing Jesus is hiding yourself from the evils of eternal separation from God. Not choosing Jesus is to remain in your lost condition and embracing the evils of eternal damnation. Choose Jesus, choose good, choose eternal joy and an eternal home in heaven free from sin. WOW! Who would not want that?

The bible is replete with warnings and cautions and directions to take when evaluating good and evil.
Psalm 31:3 For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me.
Psalm 73:24 Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.
Today, pray and ask the Lord to help you see the evil that you may hide from it and avoid it. Don’t be simple thinking, “I got this” when in fact you don’t.
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. 7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. 8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.
If you are not saved, born-again, choose the goodness of God that leads you to salvation, choose Jesus.
