Morning Devotion: Read Luke - Order to destroy
Exodus 1:13 And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour: 14 And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in morter, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made them serve, was with rigour. 15 And the king of Egypt spake to the Hebrew midwives, of which the name of the one was Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah: 16 And he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him: but if it be a daughter, then she shall live. 17 But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive. 18 And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said unto them, Why have ye done this thing, and have saved the men children alive? 19 And the midwives said unto Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are lively, and are delivered ere the midwives come in unto them. 20 Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty. 21 And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses. 22 And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive.
All throughout scriptures we see the order to destroy. From this Genesis to Revelation this order has been in place. Notice the order is against the children of the Lord and the Lord Himself.
We see it over and over in the bible. The Edomites and Moabites and the Philistines, and Rome and even in the last days Israel is attacked. Why?
Because of one reason. John 4:22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
If you could get rid of the Jews, you rid yourself of Jesus.
Jeremiah prophesied that the world would attack Jesus.
Jeremiah 31:15 Thus saith the LORD; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rahel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not.
We know that prophecy was fulfilled in Matthew shortly after Jesus was born. He destroyed all the children hoping to get rid of Jesus.
Matthew 2:16 Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men. 17 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, 18 In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.
It was also recorded in Revelation 12
Revelation 12:1 And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: 2 And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. 3 And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. 4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born. 5 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne. 6 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.
The Revelation prophecy speaks of Jesus being born and later ascended to heaven (Luke 24 and Acts 1) and the woman, meaning Israel, would be persecuted and would flee to the wilderness. The fleeing part happens during the tribulation period. Most believe they flee to the caves of Petra.
The point is this, Jesus is the answer to salvation, eternity, and He will rule and reign forever. The devil and the world do not want Jesus nor do they want to be responsible to God. They will do everything they can to destroy it. They will not succeed.
Philippians 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
The choice is still yours,
