Morning Devotion: Read Exodus - The Birth of Moses
Exodus 2:1 And there went a man of the house of Levi, and took to wife a daughter of Levi. 2 And the woman conceived, and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months. 3 And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put the child therein; and she laid it in the flags by the river's brink. 4 And his sister stood afar off, to wit what would be done to him. 5 And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash herself at the river; and her maidens walked along by the river's side; and when she saw the ark among the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it. 6 And when she had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews' children. 7 Then said his sister to Pharaoh's daughter, Shall I go and call to thee a nurse of the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for thee? 8 And Pharaoh's daughter said to her, Go. And the maid went and called the child's mother. 9 And Pharaoh's daughter said unto her, Take this child away, and nurse it for me, and I will give thee thy wages. And the woman took the child, and nursed it.
Moses, the youngest son of Amram and Jochebed was born a goodly child. What child is not goodly in the eyes of their parents?
Numbers 26:59 And the name of Amram's wife was Jochebed, the daughter of Levi, whom her mother bare to Levi in Egypt: and she bare unto Amram Aaron and Moses, and Miriam their sister.
As we draw closer to the time when Jesus returns, that love a parent should have for their children will wain and gets colder.
Matthew 24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
However, that was not the case with Moses’ parents; they lived and operated by faith.
Hebrews 11:23 By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king's commandment.
Moses’ parents hid Moses for three months, when they found that they could no longer hide him they built an ark of bulrushes, (they built a little boat) to hide him in the flags of the tall reeds of the river. If you have spent any time at all along a river you would see reeds, sometimes called cattails.
Miriam, Moses’ sister watched her little brother while he was in the little ark in the midst of the flags in the river.
God always has His eyes upon His own. He is always moving on the behalf of His people. God saw Moses and prepared a future for him.
The daughter of the one who brought the commandment to have all the baby boys destroyed is the very one who saw Moses and had compassion on him.
She took Moses in as her own. When Miriam saw the discovery, she asked about finding a nursemaid for the child. Pharaoh’s daughter told Miraim to find a nursemaid for the child, and lo and behold it was Moses’ very own mother.
Remember, God is in control. Man presupposes but God disposes.
Isaiah 46:9 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, 10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:
My dear friend, the Egyptians tried to destroy Moses and failed. The devil and the world tried to destroy Jesus and failed. God has a plan and God’s plan will not fail.
Isaiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
You want to know what is going on in the world today? read your bible.
My friend, God has a plan of you: God sent Jesus to pay for your sins on Calvary’s cross and to make a way for you to have a relationship with Him by salvation in and through Jesus.
John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
Would you be saved and be on the good side of God’s plan? or would you remain on the terrible side of God’s plan?
The choice is still yours,
