Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs

Proverbs 25:9  Debate thy cause with thy neighbour himself; and discover not a secret to another: 10  Lest he that heareth it put thee to shame, and thine infamy turn not away.

When great care is taken to keep faults between individuals rather than blabbing things to the whole world, the troubles would be stifled and the shame would be lessened.

Problems or injustices could be made right quickly and quietly when discourse is between two rather than involving an ever growing circle of people with differing opinions.

When others get involved you may be the one put to shame for you may be wrong and end up with infamy instead of reconciliation.

Infamy is gain when one commits dangerous, unethical, immoral acts and is blamed for injustices.

Hitler was an infamous person. While he was lauded by his own nation and gained vast followers, eventually he was found to be infamous.

Proverbs 25:9  Debate thy cause with thy neighbour himself; and discover not a secret to another: 10  Lest he that heareth it put thee to shame, and thine infamy turn not away.

Proverbs 18:17  He that is first in his own cause seemeth just; but his neighbour cometh and searcheth him.

We all may think we are right however, others may see things differently.

Proverbs 16:28  A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.

The best thing to do is follow the Lord and His word. If you are at fault, accept it seek forgiveness and move on. I you are the one offended, go to thy neighbour and debate it privately. Let God have the outcome.

Remember, when one is forgiven then love steps in and love very a multitude of sins.

Proverbs 10:12  Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.

Proverbs 17:9  He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends.

James 5:16  Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Christian, when you take your faults to Jesus, He forgives and chooses never to bring them up again.

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
