Morning Devotion: Read Luke - The Resurrection

Luke 24:1  Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. 2  And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. 3  And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. 4  And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments: 5  And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? 6  He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, 7  Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again. 8  And they remembered his words, 9  And returned from the sepulchre, and told all these things unto the eleven, and to all the rest.

The first day of the week is Sunday. The day of rest, the seventh day, was the Sabbath day, our Saturday.

Ever since pope Gregory Xlll changed from the Julien to the Gregorian calendar in 1582 we have had a misunderstanding of dates and times. Confusion is the master of ignorance. (If you keep the masses confused they will be ignorant, mass psychosis depends on ignorance.)

Be careful, many of the modern calendars, especially those from China have Monday as the first day of the week.

This changing of times will happen again as the world draws closer to great tribulation.

Daniel 7:24  And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings. 25  And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

We, as believers, have something greater than the changing of the times, we have Jesus. Jesus rose from the dead and is alive today sitting at the right had of the Father.

When the followers of Jesus went to the sepulchre to anoint the body of Jesus they found it empty.

Luke 24:4  And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments: 5  And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? 6  He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, 7  Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again. 8  And they remembered his words,

God kept His word and the prophecies of Jesus were completely fulfilled. God’s word never changes and it will always do that which He said.

Because Jesus rose from the dead, and because He has given us the promise of eternal life; then, by His word, we know He will raise us up in the last day.

John 6:40  And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

My friend, the times will change and the world will always be deceptive, but God’s word will always stand unchangeably true. The promise of eternal life will always be there for those who give their lives to Jesus. The proof is in the resurrection.

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
