Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs
Proverbs 25:14 Whoso boasteth himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind without rain.
Proverbs 20:6 Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?
A child will often think he can do many things only to find that he is not strong enough, tall enough, agile enough or does not have the coordination needed for the task. His heart may be in it but his body is not able.
Parents who are knowledgeable will let the child handle the smaller tasks or help in the bigger ones to give that child assurance in the maturing process.
However, an adult bragging about things he or she does not know about or does not have the capability to accomplish is the cloud and wind without rain; they have nothing to contribute or contribute falsely.
It’s like seeing clouds in sky during a time of drought and hoping for rain when no rains appears there is disappointment thus is the person who boasts of a false gift and has nothing to offer.
Jude makes a very clear comparison when it come to false teachers.
Jude 1:12 These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; 13 Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.
Jude 1:16 These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage.
I Timothy gives us another glimpse into this same matter.
1Timothy 1:7 Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.
If there is any bragging to do, brag upon the Lord. If there is any expectations based upon true boasting it must be upon something that can fulfil the promise.
God promises salvation in and through Christ Jesus, He and he alone is the only one who can fulfil that promise.
Jesus said: John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. 30 I and my Father are one.
There are “7,487 promises by God to man in the bible.” How many of those promises do you know? How many are you clinging to, in hope, knowing God can fulfil each and every one?
The choice is still yours,
