Morning Devotion: Read Luke - Jesus speaks of Jerusalem’s destruction.

Luke 21:20  And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. 21  Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto. 22  For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. 23  But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people. 24  And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

The Lord Jesus prophesied the destruction of Jerusalem. In AD 70 the city was destroyed by Titus. “After incredible slaughter and woes, Titus, the Emperor Vespasian’s son, who commanded the Roman armies, ordered the city (of Jerusalem) to be razed so completely as to look like a spot which had never been inhabited (Josephus, ’Bell. Jud.,’ v. 10. § 5)”

However, in our passage there is a double prophecy which is reconfirmed in the book of Matthew.

Matthew 24:15  When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) 16  Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: 17  Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: 18  Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. 19  And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! 20  But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: 21  For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

The abomination of desolation occurs when Israel accepts the antichrist as their messiah. The antichrist will assume the right to worship in the temple. He, will commit an abomination and desecrate the temple of God.

Daniel 11:31  And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.

This abomination in the temple will reveal who the beast really is and will spark a wicked slaughter of the Jews and christians world wide. This action will set off the second half of the tribulation period called the time of Jacob’s trouble (Israel’s trouble).

God tells us that when the abomination of desolation happens, run! Don’t stop to take anything from the house, don’t stop to secure anything, just run! There will be those who have children and those who have babies will go through a terrible time.

Luke 21:22  For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

Matthew 24:21  For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

My friend, the times of the gentile is now. We see them ruling through the united nations and negotiations with the U.S. and other countries. There will be a great peace treaty given and signed to protect Israel, this will be facilitated by the very one who will desecrate the temple. Soon their time will be fulfilled and they will be destroyed when Jesus returns. If you are not a Jew, you are a gentile.

The wonderful thing about this whole agenda is that everyone who desires to  escape the tribulation and the destruction to follow can do so in Christ Jesus. All one has to do is realize Jesus is the true saviour of the world and place their complete faith and trust in Him. God does not appoint wrath to His children.

1Thessalonians 5:9  For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, 10  Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. 11  Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
