Morning Devotion: Read Luke - The Coming of the Son of Man

Luke 21:25  And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; 26  Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. 27  And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28  And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

Praise God for the redemption of mankind. God redeems through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

As we read this chapter, we find that the Lord Jesus is talking to Jews and believers (some of the Jews there with Jesus were believers and disciples) who were given great encouragement when it comes to end time events.

We are given a view of what will happen at the end of the tribulation period. Jesus will return. “Lift up your heads; for your redemption drawers nigh.”

As we draw a timeline through the end times we will see that soon the rapture will take place. Christians, true bible believing born-again Christians will be snatched from this earth to escape the wrath of God in the tribulation.

Up until the rapture there will be signs and what we call birth pangs leading up to the tribulation; for there will be earthquakes (that includes volcanic eruptions as well.) and famines and pestilences and fearful sights and great signs as well as men hating you because you are a true believer. These things are small in comparison to the volume of what will happen in the tribulation.

When the rapture takes place, the restraints of the Holy Spirit will be loosened and evil will rule and reign on this earth like no one has ever seen.

During this time there will be those who will see that they missed the truth and will still trust in Jesus. Those believers will be persecuted. The Jews will be dealt a peace treaty which will last three and one half years. Then the abomination of desolation will take and all Jews and tribulation Christians will be persecuted to death.

There will be signs in the sun and moon; there will be perplexities and distress of nations and men’s hearts will fail because of their fear. However, the believer does not fear for their redemption is sure and their eternal life is sure.

It is at this time, the most dire time, Jesus will return to redeem, those who were saved and those Jews who turn to Jesus during the tribulation.

Luke 21:26  Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. 27  And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28  And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

My friend, know this, the hope of each believer in Christ Jesus is secure. The rapture will take place and then after seven years the Lord will return in great glory. The true believer knows this and it is this truth that keeps our hearts and minds without fear.

2Timothy 1:7  For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

If there is a fear to be considered it is the fear of God.

Luke 12:5  But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.

My Christian brother and sister, fear not. Keep looking up.

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
