Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs
Proverbs 17:21 He that begetteth a fool doeth it to his sorrow: and the father of a fool hath no joy.
Proverbs 17:25 A foolish son is a grief to his father, and bitterness to her that bare him.
The bible describes all sorts of children and sons and daughters; everything from the son that blesses his father and the daughter that hears her mother to the son that is a fool are described. Remember a fool is one that does not know God. (Psalm 14:1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.)
I wonder how many fathers have fools for children and how many fathers are fools to their fathers? How many are there that know not God.
Proverbs 17:25 describes the works of foolishness. Both the fool and he that works foolishness are a sorrow and a grief to their fathers.
It is the son or daughter who decides foolishness and being a fool are dangerous and are accompanied by eternal consequences that desire change.
Psalm 5:4 For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee. 5 The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity. 6 Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man.
The world deliberately dispenses foolishness and feeds the fool with worldly wisdom. It stands to reason that most of the world is subject to being fools living in foolishness.
1Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
1Corinthians 3:18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. 19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
When a person comes to the point in their life and they realize the foolishness of it all, they can experience change through salvation in Christ Jesus.
You can build your life as a fool or you can build your life as a wise man; how you build your life depends on your relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Jesus speaks of this in Matthew chapter seven.
Matthew 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
Are you a fool to your father on earth and our heavenly Father?
Proverbs 17:21 He that begetteth a fool doeth it to his sorrow: and the father of a fool hath no joy.
Proverbs 17:25 A foolish son is a grief to his father, and bitterness to her that bare him.
Young people, are you a foolish child causing grief and sorrow for your parents and bringing bitterness to them that brought you into this world?
The choice is still yours,
