Morning Devotion: Read Luke

Luke 21:8  And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them. 9  But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by. 10  Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: 11  And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven. 12  But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake. 13  And it shall turn to you for a testimony. 14  Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer: 15  For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist. 16  And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. 17  And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake. 18  But there shall not an hair of your head perish. 19  In your patience possess ye your souls.

We are reading from the book of Luke; Luke was a gentile used of God to give us this glorious book. Luke was a man of detail and precision for he was a physician. He records in his own words what the Lord has said.

Jesus is in the temple speaking with disciples and in front of the scribes, chief priest and elders.

Those that were there asked when these things would happen. Jesus answers; We are told not to be deceived when it comes to Christ and when it comes to end time events. He then goes into discourse of what will happen in the end times.

There will be wars: Luke 21:9  But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by. 10  Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:

At this present moment we have wars in Israel with Iran, Yemen and a host of others working with Iran, Psalm 83 covers this. We have wars in Ukraine with Russia and maybe soon, the NATO forces may get involved in that war. We have wars in western Africa and southern Africa. We have rummers of war with China and Taiwan. These things must happen in order to bring in the ten horns/kings of Revelation chapter 17.

Luke 21:11  And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.

We already have earthquakes by the scores everyday. You can go to several geological websites and see how many happen every day. As I have said before, there have been more earthquakes in the last 25 years than there have been in the last 2500 years.

There is famine abounding in different places around the globe. We are starting to see some of these things closer to home. Famines can be natural and man made. You can have plenty to eat and still have famine, specially when the food you eat lacks nutrients or is man made and manipulated.

There is a great famine that exist today, it is a famine for the word of God. There are so many versions today that few know which is the right one. Dynamic equivalency has all but destroyed the word of God.

In some countries you can be incarcerated and even put to death for owning even a portion of the bible.

Amos 8:11  Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: 12  And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.

My friend, today we have a wonderful book available to all in the Americas and around the world; it is called the King James Bible. Without going into great dissertation on the issue, let me simply say, it has not been affected by dynamic equivalency. Seek God’s word and be satisfied with the bread of God’s word. Don’t cause yourself to starve spiritually.

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
