Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs

Proverbs 22:2  The rich and poor meet together: the LORD is the maker of them all.

Where does everyone meet together? Where is that one destination that everyone meets? My dear friend, the final destination is death, the grave and judgment.

While nobody like to think of the process of death and dying the fact still remains everyone dies. (There is only one exception, the rapture and only a few will participate in that.)

Hebrews 9:27  And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

Ecclesiastes 3:19  For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity. 20  All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again. 21  Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?

Life ends in death, the body ends in dust and the spirit returns to the Lord for judgment. Then, after judgment, man is given his final destiny, heaven or hell. Jesus is God and Jesus is the judge.

John 5:22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:

John 5:27  And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.

The very person that people reject as God, holy and righteous, belittling and attempting to harness Him as “God is Love” without judgment of sin, is the very one he will stand before in everlasting judgment.

Jesus Himself said in Mark 1:15 “…The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.”

God demonstrated His love for us in that Christ died for us and paid our sin debt. (John 3:16, Romans 5:8.) Man’s part is to repent of sin, repent of the belief that he can save himself or that he can live in sin and God will make all things right in the end. No, no, Jesus said repent. No repentance, no salvation.

When you die, as all will and all will meet together in that process, you will stand before God, the Lord Jesus Christ. It is then that whatever state you are in you will remain.

Revelation 22:11  He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.

Jesus is the only one that can give you righteousness.

Romans 10:9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Remember: Proverbs 22:2  The rich and poor meet together: the LORD is the maker of them all.

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
