Morning Devotion: Read Luke

Luke 17:23  And they shall say to you, See here; or, see there: go not after them, nor follow them. 24  For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day. 25  But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation.

Our Lord Jesus is addressing the religious people called Pharisees, They demanded to know when God’s kingdom would come. Jesus responded by saying the would never see it.

Jesus goes on to describe some of the signs pointing to His return.

Jesus explains that before that event happens, there will be many who will say “See here; or, see there.”

People who do not know the Lord nor of His salvation will point to many things and even antichrist for redemption.

When speaking with His disciples, Jesus said there would be those who point to something other than Christ. They would point to a false Christ called antichrist.

1John 2:18  Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.

If there were many antichrists back then, how many do you suppose are posing as Christ today? There are many who say follow them and say “See here; and, see there.”

Oh, go to this church or that church or follow this religion of that religion or follow this cult or that cult, they say those things, not knowing that Jesus is the way the truth and the life.

2John 1:7  For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

Do you know what Jesus said about these false religious people? Luke 17:23b… “go not after them, nor follow them.”

Yet, people will still choose another instead of Jesus. John 5:43  I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.

When the Lord does return to set up His kingdom, He will come with great glory and display.

Luke 17:24  For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day.

Revelation 19:11  And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. 12  His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. 13  And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. 14  And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. 15  And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16  And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

Yes, my friend, heaven will be lit up with the power and glory of God and there will be lighting and fire and Jesus himself will have eyes like the flame of fire. Oh, that day will be glorious.

However, those who look for another and not Jesus, will find they were wrong all along.

John 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Acts 4:12  Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
