Morning Devotion: Read Exodus - Show Me Thy Glory

Exodus 33:17  And the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name. 18  And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory. 19  And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy. 20  And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live. 21  And the LORD said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock: 22  And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by: 23  And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.

Earlier in verse thirty three we saw Moses desiring to know the Lord more intimately when he said “shew me now thy way.”

Do you desire to know the way of the Lord, or do you simply going your own way?

Proverbs 16:25  There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

God’s way is always the right way; His way is the way that leads to life everlasting.

In our text, Moses desires to know God even more than that; Moses wants to see God’s glory.

Exodus 33:18  And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.

God’s glory was displayed in Egypt and in the red sea. Exodus 15:11  Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?

God’s glory was displayed in the top of the mountain of Sinai when there were lightnings and thunders and the mountain shook.

After all that, Moses wanted to see God’s glory personally. Do you desire a personal glorious relationship with God?

My dear Christian friend, are you experiencing and living in the glory of the Lord?

Romans 8:16  The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17  And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

My unbelieving friend, God has His glory waiting for you. In fact, Jesus prayed for you that you might experience His glory in salvation upon hearing the preaching of God’s word.

John 17:20  Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; 21  That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. 22  And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: 23  I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. 24  Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
