Morning Devotion: Read Exodus - A Shining Countenance
Exodus 34:29 And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moses' hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses wist not that the skin of his face shone while he talked with him. 30 And when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone; and they were afraid to come nigh him. 31 And Moses called unto them; and Aaron and all the rulers of the congregation returned unto him: and Moses talked with them. 32 And afterward all the children of Israel came nigh: and he gave them in commandment all that the LORD had spoken with him in mount Sinai. 33 And till Moses had done speaking with them, he put a vail on his face. 34 But when Moses went in before the LORD to speak with him, he took the vail off, until he came out. And he came out, and spake unto the children of Israel that which he was commanded. 35 And the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses' face shone: and Moses put the vail upon his face again, until he went in to speak with him.
Every born-again believer is a new creature in Christ Jesus.
2Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
The inner man, the new man is that man that loves and serves the Lord.
Ephesians 4:24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
Colossians 3:10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
The born-again believer has passed from death unto life (eternal life in Christ) and from darkness to light.
Jesus said in John 5:24 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
1Thessalonians 5:5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
Ephesians 5:8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
1John 1:5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
With all that in mind, we find a wonderful aspect of the Christian life, we find newness of life and light.
Moses spent time with God, as a result his countenance was changed, he had the glow and his face shone. Verse 30a And when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone;…
My friend, I believe that there is a unique difference between the born-again Christian and the unbeliever when it comes to countenance. Christians are children of the light therefore; they are different because they are Christians. Our relationship with he Lord makes us different. It should show in our countenance.
Let me admonish you a little: The more time you spend with the Lord the more change you will see in your life and the more change others will see in you.
Moses spent time in the presence of the LORD. We can spend time in His presence as we read the Word of God. We can spend time in His presence when we seek Him in prayer.
The more time spent with God the greater the change.
I love to be around the believer who lives and walks with God, they are delightfully different. Their countenance shows it, their lifestyle shows it and their outlook on life shows it as they walk with God.
Moses’ countenance was different because he knew the LORD and spent time with Him.
My friend do you know the Lord? Have you trusted Jesus to save your soul?
My born-again Christian friend, are you spending time with Jesus? When you do it will show.
The choice is still your,
