Morning Devotion: Read Exodus - Specialized Servants for the LORD
Exodus 36:8 And every wise hearted man among them that wrought the work of the tabernacle made ten curtains of fine twined linen, and blue, and purple, and scarlet: with cherubims of cunning work made he them.
Exodus 36:1 Then wrought Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every wise hearted man, in whom the LORD put wisdom and understanding to know how to work all manner of work for the service of the sanctuary, according to all that the LORD had commanded. 2 And Moses called Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every wise hearted man, in whose heart the LORD had put wisdom, even every one whose heart stirred him up to come unto the work to do it:
Every person is created differently. Every person has a talent or an attribute or a gift that is inherent to their personality. In our text there was Bezaleel and Aholiab whom the LORD created with a wise heart and understanding to know the work and do the work required for building the tabernacle. There were others as well.
You were created with uniquely as well. There are talents, attributes and gifts that you have that can be employed in the service of the Lord in your local church.
The issue is not the talent but the heart. Is your heart stirred to do something for God?
Exodus 36: 2 And Moses called Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every wise hearted man, in whose heart the LORD had put wisdom, even every one whose heart stirred him up to come unto the work to do it:
God gives you the wisdom and the talent and the gifts and the attributes; is your heart stirred to serve the Lord?
Not only does God give physical talents, like those who understand and know how to build and repair and maintain the physical things of the church like plumbers, electricians, carpenters, mechanics, painters, financiers, bookkeepers and yard workers and such the like.
God also gives spiritual gifts as well.
Romans 12:6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; 7 Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; 8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.
1Corinthians 12:8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
(We know that there were certain spiritual gifts that were used then that are not used today such as speaking in tongues and healings for they were used to authenticate the word of God. Since the Word of God is complete that need is done away with.)
Ephesians 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
Every church needs those whose heart is stirred for His service. The church needs teachers and preachers and those willing to help with academics, administrators and ministers of like faith, all for the perfecting of the saints.
We are one body of believers and each person is needed in the body.
Corinthians 12:27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
The issue is not the talent, or the gift, or the attribute but the heart. Is your heart stirred to do something for God?
Don’t be that person that lets everyone else do the work. Get involved in serving Jesus. Just as God used Bezaleel and Aholiab and the others, let God use you and the gifts, talents and attributes He gave you. You will be blessed in doing so.
The choice is still yours,
