Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs
Proverbs 31:10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. 11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. 12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
Ah, the virtuous woman, the woman of whom is no evil, corruption, badness, vileness, wickedness, evildoing, iniquity, malevolence, nefariousness and sin.
The word virtue includes characteristics such as goodness, purity, righteousness, morality, ethicalness, uprightness, integrity, dignity, honesty, honor, incorruptibility, decency, nobleness, trustworthiness, meritoriousness, irreproachableness, blamelessness, merit; high principles.
To have a woman of virtue in your life is a value far above rubies.
The idea of having a virtuous woman in marriage is compared to the Lord Jesus Christ and the church. Yes, the church, for the church is the bride of Christ.
Ephesians 5:22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. 24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. 25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. 28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. 29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: 30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
Read verse 32 again. The marriage relationship is about Christ and the church.
In such a woman the husband has no trouble trusting and confiding for he does not concern himself with any ill will. He does not concern himself with her infidelity nor self-will because his wife is virtuous. She is given completely to her husband as the church should be completely given to Christ.
Proverbs 31:10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. 11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. 12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
I often wonder how the churches of our modern world would fair if they were completely given over to Christ. I often wonder how our churches would fair if each member of each church were given completely over to Christ.
What about you, are you completely given over to Christ and His will? Is your church completely given over to Christ and His will?
The choice is still yours,
