Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs

Proverb 30:15  The horseleach hath two daughters, crying, Give, give. There are three things that are never satisfied, yea, four things say not, It is enough:

16  The grave; and the barren womb; the earth that is not filled with water; and the fire that saith not, It is enough. 17  The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.

Psalms 32:9  Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee.

A horse is controlled by the reins attached to the bridle, both reins seek for control. If the horse has no reigns there is nothing by which to control the horse.

You have a will, they are the reins which control your life. They are the core values by which you live and operate and have your way. If those reins are attached to something other than God your will, will be unbridled.

King David wanted to know the Lord so much so that he asked God to examine him and try his reins.

Psalms 26:2 Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart.

David wanted God to find any place in his will or his heart that did not desire to love and serve and walk with God.

Would you be of such a mind as to let God try your reins, you will?

Psalms 7:9  Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins.

One day we all will meet our end and our reins, our will, our desires will be checked. One day, we will meet Jesus.

Job 19:25  For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: 26  And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: 27  Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.

Would you allow the love of the Lord Jesus Christ to be your rein, your constraining factor?

2 Corinthians 5:14 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:

Psalm 32:7  Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah. 8  I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye. 9  Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee.

Proverb 30:15  The horseleach hath two daughters, crying, Give, give.

Who or what is your guiding factor?

Joshua 24:15  And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
