Morning Devotion: Read Exodus - The Tabernacle Colours
Exodus 26:1 Moreover thou shalt make the tabernacle with ten curtains of fine twined linen, and blue, and purple, and scarlet: with cherubims of cunning work shalt thou make them.
Exodus 26:7 And thou shalt make curtains of goats' hair to be a covering upon the tabernacle: eleven curtains shalt thou make.
Exodus 26:13 And a cubit on the one side, and a cubit on the other side of that which remaineth in the length of the curtains of the tent, it shall hang over the sides of the tabernacle on this side and on that side, to cover it.
Exodus 26:14 And thou shalt make a covering for the tent of rams' skins dyed red, and a covering above of badgers' skins.
Exodus 26:31 And thou shalt make a vail of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen of cunning work: with cherubims shall it be made: 32 And thou shalt hang it upon four pillars of shittim wood overlaid with gold: their hooks shall be of gold, upon the four sockets of silver. 33 And thou shalt hang up the vail under the taches, that thou mayest bring in thither within the vail the ark of the testimony: and the vail shall divide unto you between the holy place and the most holy. 34 And thou shalt put the mercy seat upon the ark of the testimony in the most holy place. 35 And thou shalt set the table without the vail, and the candlestick over against the table on the side of the tabernacle toward the south: and thou shalt put the table on the north side. 36 And thou shalt make an hanging for the door of the tent, of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen, wrought with needlework. 37 And thou shalt make for the hanging five pillars of shittim wood, and overlay them with gold, and their hooks shall be of gold: and thou shalt cast five sockets of brass for them.
We have already spoken of four pieces of furniture for the Tabernacle, the others will be covered as the scriptures speak of them.
In our text, we find the curtains of the Tabernacle. The curtains and coverings were made of goats hair, badger skins and (Coverings on the outside the tabernacle) and of fine twined linen, and blue, and purple, and scarlet. The coloured curtains were for the entrance of the gate, the entrance of the tabernacle the vail that separated the Holy Place from the Holy of Holies.
Notice, the coloured curtains were of fine twined linen, and blue, and purple, and scarlet.
These colours were specifically chosen by God in that they represented the colours of the robes that Jesus wore or were given Him prior to His crucifixion.
God had every detail mapped out in biblical pictorial prophecy for all Israel and us to see. As you read all of chapter twenty six you will see many different colours depicted like gold and silver and brass and wood and of course fine twined linen, and blue, and purple, and scarlet.
Here is what those colours meant.
Gold represents the deity of God and of Jesus Christ.
Silver is for redemption.
Brass is for judgment.
Wood represents the humanity of Christ.
Rams skins and goats skins for Atonement.
Badger skins represent the humanity or outward appearance of Christ.
Hebrews 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
Philippians 2:6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
The wood overlaid with gold is a picture of the humanity of Christ overlaid with the deity of God. He was God in the flesh. Jesus became man that He might suffer and die in your place.
2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
We also see that the blue was for the priesthood representing the Heavenly nature of Christ. This Jesus wore on a daily basis.
The purple was for royalty.
The Scarlet was for sacrifice.
The fine twined linen or white linen was for righteousness.
All these pictographs or pictorial representations are of Christ and what He did for you. All through the bible the main theme is God loving you sending Jesus Christ for your redemption.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
The choice is still yours,
