Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs

Proverbs 30:29  There be three things which go well, yea, four are comely in going: 30  A lion which is strongest among beasts, and turneth not away for any; 31  A greyhound; an he goat also; and a king, against whom there is no rising up.

The lion in our text represent the Lion of the tribe of Judah; my freind that lion is Jesus. He turns for no one. In fact to Him every knee shall bow and every tongue will confess the He is Lord to God’s glory. Think about that in light of eternity.

The greyhound speaks of speed and the he goat speaks of running and racing. We as believers are in a race. We run to obtain, obtain what?

1Corinthians 9:24  Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. 25  And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. 26  I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: 27  But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

There you have it, we run to please God. We keep ourselves temperate and run, not with uncertainty, as some do; we run to obtain the incorruptible crown given by the Lord Jesus Christ himself.

We have great examples that have run the race before us. So, we run because of that great cloud of witnesses who have finished there course with dignity and honour.

Hebrews 12:1  Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2  Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Are there sins in your life that prevent you from running the good clean race? Are there sins that niggle at your heart and weigh you down with worry or shame or concern?

Give them to the Lord and run the race with joy. 1st John 1:9 is for you the believer.

Some have not started the race, they may be sitting on the sideline watching. You can be in the race for the Lord.

Look to Jesus.

If you desire to be saved and experience the love from God through His Son Jesus Christ you may. By faith, simply pray this prayer believing with all your heart.

“God I know I am a sinner in need of salvation. I now repent of my sin asking you to save me. Please come into my heart and save my soul for I cannot save myself. I now place my faith and trust in Jesus Christ my Lord and Saviour whom you have sent.”

Please let us know if you have made that decision.

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
