Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs

Proverbs 30:5  Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. 6  Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

Yesterday we saw how the word God is pure and is a shield or protection to the believer.

Today we see God gives a great warning. Proverbs 30:6  Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

There are many who have added to God’s word and taken away from God’s word, whether it be by written text or in verbal presentation or in their actions.

There are hundreds of different “bibles” in circulation all of which do not agree with God’s pure word.

Here is an example: Philip the Apostle was teaching an Ethiopian the word of God and Jesus.

Acts 8:35  Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. 36  And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? 37  And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. 38  And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.

In most modern versions verse 37 is changed or left out making it look like one only needs to be baptized to be saved. With that one change many have been baptized never trusting in Jesus to save their souls. They remain unsaved.

Example: Luke 9:56  For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.

In many of the modern versions the first part of Luke 9:56 is left out and it reads "Luke 9:56 And they went to another village.”

In both cases the word of God was changed creating an additional concept that lacks salvation through Jesus Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ is left out.

John 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

In the book of Revelation God gives a more stern warning about adding to His word.

Revelation 22:18  For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19  And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. 20  He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. 21  The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

You can choose whatever book you wish to read. I will choose the Kings James Bible for it is the closest bible to the original languages of Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic.

Proverbs 30:5  Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. 6  Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

Proverbs 10:17  He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.

Proverbs 15:10  Correction is grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: and he that hateth reproof shall die.

Proverbs 15:31  The ear that heareth the reproof of life abideth among the wise.

The choice is still yours,
