Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs

Proverbs 28:19  He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread: but he that followeth after vain persons shall have poverty enough.

Proverbs 12:11  He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding.

Chance very seldom ever provides anything of substance. It is the consistent forethought, planing and work that provides for the future. The one who is diligent is the one who has plenty, but the one who never works shall suffer poverty.

In a world where dependence for sustenance is on others and work is neglected the dependent will suffer when sustenance is cut off.

Taking this principle one can make application to their walk with the Lord. He that takes time to study and learn the Lord will have plenty of truth and knowledge and understanding, but the person who follows vain persons will not.

Hosea 10:12  Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.

2 Timothy  2:15  Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

There are vain persons who will tell you what God said having never or seldom ever read the bible. They simply give you what they suppose God said or what others have told them relaying it to you. That my friend, is vanity.

This principle can be applied to all aspects of life, both the physical and the spiritual. To be impoverished in either world leaves one lacking.

The first step to understanding God’s word is salvation.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
