Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs

Proverbs 28:26  He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

The heart of man can easily be deceived and is easily controlled by that which is within. For the lost, the heart only evil continually and we already know that the fool is one who does not know the Lord.

Mark 7:21  For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, 22  Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: 23  All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

To trust in something that is easily manipulated is to be in bondage.

Where should we go, what soiled we do?

Proverbs 3:5  Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

We also know that wisdom, godly wisdom is from the Lord. There is the place of freedom and deliverance.

Psalm 111:10  The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.

24 times in the book of Proverbs we find wisdom and understanding al of which come from the Lord beings blessing to those who have it.

Proverbs 21:30  There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.

When faced with choices in life whether they are small or large, seek the Lord for wisdom.

James 1:5  If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Worldly wisdom rejects Christ and godly wisdom embraces Christ. Which one will you choose?

1Corinthians 1:18  For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 19  For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.

The answer: Job 28:28  And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
