Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs
Proverbs 29:9 If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest.
Proverbs 29:11 A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.
Do you see the contrast between the wise man and the fool or foolish man?
The word “condendeth” means to judge, that is, pronounce sentence (for or against); by implication to vindicate or punish; by extension to govern; passively to litigate (literally or figuratively): to condemn, or to contend, defend, execute (judgment), (be a) judge (-ment), X needs, plead, reason, rule.
No matter how or a what angle one interacts with a fool, there is no rest. The fool will not restrain himself but will speak his mind about foolish things. Those foolish things are things most likely against the will and word of God.
The word of God is that which judges and pronounces sentence. The word of God does condemn and does contend, yes even defends and pleads and reasons with us. The fool has no regard for such things and may follow himself or another way or rule that satisfies himself, in essence putting himself ahead of God. After all, the fool thinks he knows better than God.
I was speaking with a person about God’s word and what it says about salvation and how Jesus saves the soul. The person retorted with Mary saves and gives us audience with Jesus because she is the mediator. That kind of response is not in the bible. Nowhere does God’s word tell us Mary is the mediator. The Roman Catholic Church will say Mary is the mediator, not God’s word.
That person was making the church and what the church says more important than the word of God. That type of response is foolish and brings no rest.
The church has no authority over God, God has all authority over the church.
1Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; 6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
The church has no authority over God, God has all authority over the church.
Remember, the fool rejects God and says no God. Psalm 53:1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.
Are you a fool? Do you believe you know more and understand better than the God of all creation? Do you believe you know more than the word of God?
Proverbs 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
Proverbs 29:9 If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest.
Proverbs 29:11 A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.
My dear friend, it is the word of God that judges and pronounces sentence. The word of God that condemns and contends even defends and pleads and reasons with us is Jesus.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Speaking about Jesus in Revelation 19:13 we read: “And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.”
Do you believe the word of God?
The choice is still yours,
