Morning Devotion: Read Ephesians
Ephesians 1:15 Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, 16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; 17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: 18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, 19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, 20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, 21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: 22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, 23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
This one long sentence filled with so many great and wonderful truths.
In this text we find that God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, (who is God manifest in the flesh) gives you, the believer, the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him.
Do you know Him? Do you have the knowledge of Christ?
2 Peter 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
There are a host of people that say they believe in God but, the question is this, do they know Jesus Christ? Do you know the riches of His glory and the inheritance the believer has in the Lord Jesus Christ?
James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. (Many say they believe in God but do not know the Lord Jesus Christ.)
Do you know the power He has toward us who believe?
Do you know that Jesus Christ is set above all principalities and powers and is set at the right hand of God? And, do you know that Jesus Christ is the head of the church?
Ephesians 1:22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, 23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
Yes, my friend, Jesus is the head of the church the body of believers. Most people see a church building as the church and its association with a religion, such as the Catholic church or the Episcopalian church or the Anglican Church etc. They do not realize the church is the people, the called out believers, who place their faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ for their salvation, and, have become children of God, and, as a result, comprise the family of God, the church.
Here is the wonderful truth; we are His body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
My Christian friend, there is great reason to rejoice when you realize the relationship you have with God in our Lord Jesus Christ; the power you have in Him. It is the power of God unto eternal life.
Do you have it?
The choice is still yours,
Pastor Cook
