Morning Devotion: Read Luke - The Acknowledgement of Christ.

Luke 12:8  Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God: 9  But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God. 10  And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven. 11  And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say: 12  For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.

I was recently in a sporting goods store and was compelled by a store clerk to buy into a special deal where I could win a trip. After I refused the man said, “God bless you brother.”

That caught my attention. I stopped and asked the man if he was a Christian. He said yes, he was. Then I asked how he became a Christian. He said he had met a wonderful and beautiful woman who claimed to be a Christian and she changed his life. He further stated that this woman’s brother was a preacher of the Church of Christ. After he heard her brother preach, he changed his life even further. That is how he knew he was a Christian.

What was wrong with that profession of faith? 1. He changed his life after the influence of two people.  2. He never mentioned the Lord Jesus Christ. His salvation was based on doing good, changing his life, turning over a new leaf.

No one is ever saved by changing himself.

Job 14:4  Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.

Ephesians 2:8  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9  Not of works, lest any man should boast.

He never spoke of Christ. He never confessed the Lord Jesus Christ had saved him.

Luke 12:8  Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God: 9  But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.

He did not confess Christ because he did not know Christ. All he knew was how he could change himself. His name will never be confessed in heaven because he does not know the God of heaven through His Son Jesus. Consequently, the man will be denied before the angels in heaven.

As people were coming I quickly left him one verse of scripture.

1John 5:12  He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

Only heaven will reveal what happened after that encounter.

1John 4:2  Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

If someone asks you how you became a Christian, what would your answer be?

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
