Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs
Proverbs 20:22 Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee.
This world is filled with barbarianism, men seeking to harm men and control men and profit from man. Evil pursues evil. This is nothing new for it has been around since the beginning when Cain slew his brother Able in Genesis chapter four. Cain, being upset and having his countenance changed because God had respect to Able’s and his offering and not Cain’s, slew his brother and spilled his blood on the ground.
Men through time has sought dominion over other men for one reason or another. All you have to do is watch the news with an understanding of who and what man is according to the scriptures and you will see truth.
If you have ever read “Foxes Book of Martyrs” or the modern “Voices of the Martyrs” and you will see this type of evil is persistent even in the religious world.
Speaking about the false church, the Lord says in Revelation18:24 “And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.”
The Lord admonishes us not to seek vengeance, not recompense evil for evil, rather He encourages us to trust the Lord.
Romans 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
To give place unto wrath is to stand aside and let it pass by. It means to open the door and let it go through.
Proverbs 20:22 Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee.
Wha should we do? We should be like David trusting in the Lord.
Psalm 25:2 O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.
Psalm 143:9 Deliver me, O LORD, from mine enemies: I flee unto thee to hide me.
Psalm 34:14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
Romans 12:21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
Matthew 5:43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
Finally, instead of recompensing evil, trust in the Lord to repay, in the Lord to handle His enemies.
Proverbs 20:22 Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee.
Romans 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
I read the last chapter of the bible and found, the Lord wins and the believers win with Him.
Trust the Lord.
The choice is still yours,
