Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs

Proverbs 21:1  The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.

Proverbs 20:24  Man's goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?

Every new day, every step we make, every journey we take we enter upon new scenarios and experiences and circumstances that require us to trust in the Lord. If we rely on our own finite wisdom or understanding we will ultimately fail.

I believe Jeremiah said it best: Jeremiah 10:23  O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps. 24  O LORD, correct me, but with judgment; not in thine anger, lest thou bring me to nothing.

It is the Lord who knows the end from the beginning for He is everlasting.

Isaiah 46:9  Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, 10  Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

At the end of the book of Revelation Jesus declares He has completed what was to be done.

Revelation 21:6  And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

God has a plan for this world, and we are on the fast track to eternity. The prophecies of the end times are at hand and we are scheduled for them. There is nothing to do but to trust in the Lord. The kings of the earth and the individual alike go through the plan of God whether they know it of not.

Proverbs 21:1  The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.

Proverbs 20:24  Man's goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?

That is why it is imperative that we trust in the Lord and seek His will in all that we do.

James 4:13  Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: 14  Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. 15  For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.

Again, we come to the admonishment of trusting in the Lord with all our hearts for He directs our way.

Proverbs 3:5  Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. 7  Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. 8  It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

The first step is to trust in Jesus who can save your soul, and who guides your steps, and is the very one who orchestrates the happenings of this world.

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
