Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs

Proverbs 21:22  A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.

If you will read Daniel chapter 5, you will find that King Belshazzar had a great feast. It was during this feast that he decided to use to use the cups and drinking vessels that were taken from the house of the LORD when they captured Jerusalem.

God punished King Belshazzar and destroyed the city for his horrendous acts against Him. God had a wise man prepared to take Belshazzar’s super fortified city. According to Xenophon, the Greek historian, who recorded secular history; the way in which the Persians took the city was through the wisdom of King Darius’ general Gobryas.

General Gobryas, knowing the city was fortified with two great walls and had numerous guard posts and sentries watching, used his wisdom to bypass all the security and invade the city.

Gobryas redirected the Euphrates river which flowed through the city and marched his army under the walls undetected. The city was taken in one night.

Although the city was fortified and mighty, it was the wisdom of one man who took it down.

My friend, there is one who is wiser than us all; He is able to take any fortified strongholds we can muster against him. His name is Jesus.

Hosea 14:9  Who is wise, and he shall understand these things? prudent, and he shall know them? for the ways of the LORD are right, and the just shall walk in them: but the transgressors shall fall therein.

As you read through the book of revelation you will find that no one ever defeats the Lord. In the end God always wins, the believer always wins. A very serious point to remember is this; God destroys all wickedness and world wisdom at the end of the tribulation leaving only the righteous, the saved. All the armies of the world will march on Jesus and will be destroyed at Armageddon.

What does wisdom tell you when it comes to trusting Jesus?

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
