Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs
Proverbs 21:23 Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.
Once more we are brought to a truth that his reinstated many times in the book of Proverbs.
The loose mouth and tongue are often the very thing that gets men into trouble. Even if the words are true and needed they may be ill timed or spoken without thought.
In our modern world the mouth and tongue are the very things that get people into trouble because of the emotions and ideologies of others. If you disagree or voice an opinion you become the target of retaliation and in some cases and in some countries arrest.
The mouth and the tongue used for the Lord is the best choice one can ever make. Doing so may bring trouble and trials as with Jeremiah who was threatened and imprisoned and accused of treason. In the end, Jeremiah lived and those who brought violence perished.
Proverbs 15:23 A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!
James 3:13 Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.
Remember, Jesus never spoke the wrong words at the wrong time. Every word of the Lord was good and right. Let Jesus be your example; let the word of God be your guide.
If we may make the point again, what ever is in your heart will eventually come out of your mouth in the form of words.
Luke 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
Let Jesus change your heart, good words will be the byproduct.
The choice is still yours,
