Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs
Proverbs 27:18 Whoso keepeth the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof: so he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured.
There is profit in labour and there is honour in serving the master.
Proverbs 24:30 I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding; 31 And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down. 32 Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction. 33 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: 34 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.
The person who keeps the fig tree well watered, well fertilized and well pruned will eat of the fruit it produces. The person who labours, works and is faithful in doing so will reap the reward.
In a world of instant gratification and a me first attitude, where living off handouts and stipends from whatever entity, we find a lack of motivation and increased dependancy.
There is great reward in the labour of one who will simply do what is expected of them. They will be considered worthy over all others for most people will do just enough to get by rather than doing what is expected.
As a believer, we are encouraged to do all we can for our master the Lord God of Heaven and His Son, Christ Jesus. He saved our soul and gave us eternal life and a home in heaven. He forgave us our sin and removed the penalty sin which is eternal death and hell. He gave us His great love and leads us and guides us every day. Why would we not serve Him with all our heart? Maybe it is because some really have two masters, themselves and God or the devil and God.
Jesus said in Matthew 6:24 “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon."
Jesus said in Luke 6:46 “And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?”

Today, call upon the Lord to help you live for Him and serve Him with all your heart. There is great reward in doing so.
