Morning Devotion: Read Exodus - The Ninth Plague: Darkness

Exodus 10:21  And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt. 22  And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days: 23  They saw not one another, neither rose any from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings. 24  And Pharaoh called unto Moses, and said, Go ye, serve the LORD; only let your flocks and your herds be stayed: let your little ones also go with you. 25  And Moses said, Thou must give us also sacrifices and burnt offerings, that we may sacrifice unto the LORD our God. 26  Our cattle also shall go with us; there shall not an hoof be left behind; for thereof must we take to serve the LORD our God; and we know not with what we must serve the LORD, until we come thither. 27  But the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he would not let them go. 28  And Pharaoh said unto him, Get thee from me, take heed to thyself, see my face no more; for in that day thou seest my face thou shalt die. 29  And Moses said, Thou hast spoken well, I will see thy face again no more.

“The judgment was upon the sun–god Ra. Darkness came over the land of Egypt in the daytime. God moved in with darkness against the chief god that they worshiped. The sun disc is the most familiar symbol the Egyptians used”

As said before, much of the known world worships the sun god along with baphomet.

God brought the Egyptians a darkness that could be felt, so dark that man would fear.

God will bring darkness once again in the tribulation period. This darkness will be so terrible it will bring pain.

Revelation 16:10  And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues for pain, 11  And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and repented not of their deeds.

May I remind you, God is a God of light; God creates the light to rule over the darkness. God is the one who controls light and darkness, not the false god Ra.

Genesis 1:14  And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: 15  And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.  16  And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. 17  And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, 18  And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. 19  And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

1John 1:5  This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

Although people worship the false god Ra, they unknowingly worship the devil and his darkness.

2Corinthians 4:4  In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

The preaching of the gospel brings the true light. Acts 26:18  To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

You have a choice, you can come to the true light, Jesus, or you can remain in darkness.

John 3:19  And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20  For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21  But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

Worshiping false gods, no matter what their name, is to worship in darkness and blindness. One may think they are “enlightened”, but they are not.

To worship the God of heaven is to worship in light, and truth, and righteousness.

The born again believer is a child of the true light. Paul writes to the Christians and says they are children of light. 1Thessalonians 5:5  Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
