Morning Devotion: Read Exodus - The Institution of the Passover
Exodus 12:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, 2 This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you. 3 Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house: 4 And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb. 5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats: 6 And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.
The beginning of months and the beginning of the year was instituted by God himself. The beginning of the year and months started with this passover it was in the month of Abib. The month of Abib was the end of March and the beginning of April according to the lunar cycles of earth.
The lunar calendar was changed by Julius Caesar in 45 BC to the Julian calendar to honour himself, not God.
The Gregorian calendar was instituted by Pope Gregory XIII in 1582 as a reform of the Julian calendar. The first of the year was changed to January instead of keeping it in April.
Much of the European world accepted the Gregorian calendar. Of course the Chinese world has their calendar.
To us, January is cold and harsh and dead while March/April is the beginning of new life and the beginning of warmth and vibrancy. Jesus Christ is the author of new life and vibrancy and is Himself salvation.
Both calendars did away with the first of the year and the institution of the passover as such.
Now, there is the improved calendar which makes Monday the first day of the week rather than Sunday removing the honour of Christ’s Resurrection.
These things bring change to those who do not know their history. The worldly Roman system and the catholic religious system changed the calendar changing the focus away from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Trying to date the birth of Christ and the death burial and resurrection of Christ and the end times revelation becomes difficult because people use these modern calendars which make reconciling the dates and the times difficult.
It will happen again. In the end times, the antichrist will seek to change times again creating even more confusion.
Daniel 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.
My friend, know this, God created time when He put the stars and the planets and the sun in their places. Since God is outside of time, for He created time, He never changes with time. He is the director of time and events in this world.
Isaiah 46:9 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, 10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:
Revelation 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
Since God is not constrained by time and lives outside of time, when He offers eternal life He is the only one qualified to give it.
Titus 1:2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
John 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
1John 2:25 And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life. 26 These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.
Not all change honours Christ. Change is often meant to seduce you. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, He never changes. Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
The choice is still yours,
