Morning Devotion: Read Exodus - The Plague of the Death of the Firstborn

Exodus 12:29  And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle. 30  And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead. 31  And he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, Rise up, and get you forth from among my people, both ye and the children of Israel; and go, serve the LORD, as ye have said. 32  Also take your flocks and your herds, as ye have said, and be gone; and bless me also.

The time had come, the LORD kept His word, the first born of every family died. They chose to ignore the LORD’s warning and perished.

Noah preached righteousness for one hundred and twenty years. The whole earth never believed, they ignored God’s warning, then the first raindrop fell. It was too late and the earth perished. (Genesis chapters six through nine.)

2Peter 3:5  For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: 6  Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:

Israel had trusted the Lord. They believed the LORD would spare them by trusting in the blood of the lamb. Israel remained in their homes under the blood while the world around them perished.

Exodus 12:22  And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning. 23  For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you.

Exodus 12:29  And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle.

AS BELIEVERS, WE LIVE IN VERY EXCITING TIMES. The world is ripe for the Lord to act once again. The message has been sent; the blood has been shed on calvary’s cross. Those who have trusted and will trust will be blessed.

Never before have the countries been aligned together against Israel as they are now.

Ezekiel  38:3… Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal: (Russia and her allies)

Ezekiel 38:5  Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet: 6  Gomer, and all his bands; the house of Togarmah of the north quarters, and all his bands: and many people with thee.

Never before has technology been so thorough as to govern all of mankind.

Revelation 13:16  And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: 17  And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Never before have the religions of the world been so close as to become one.

Speaking of the beast and the devil in Revelation 13:8  “And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”

My friend, those in Noah’s day were warned by God, Egypt was warned by God, and the world now is warned by God.

Will you trust in the shed blood of the Lamb of God? He will save your soul, give you everlasting life, establish a relationship with you, and give you a home in heaven.

Believer, remember, we live in very exciting biblical times. 1Thessalonians 5:9  For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
