Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs - Wisdom from the Beginning

Proverbs 3:19  The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens. 20  By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew. 21  My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion: 22  So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck. 23  Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble. 24  When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet. 25  Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh. 26  For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

Genesis 1:1  In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

God by His wisdom created the heaven and the earth. He created a trinity of trinities all at the same. He created time, space and matter. Time (“In the beginning”) is past present and future; heaven is space, which is length, breath and hight and matter which is gas, liquid and solid. All these had to come into existence at the same time or creation could not be. That my friend is wisdom.

Genesis 1:2  And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3  And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4  And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

Genesis 1:6  And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.

Genesis 1:9  And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. 10  And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.

Genesis 1:11  And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.

Genesis 1:14  And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

Genesis 1:20  And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. 21  And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

Genesis 1:24  And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. 25  And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

Genesis 1:26  And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

The LORD asked Job a question concerning creation, a question which put Job in his place. Job 38:4  Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.

God, in creation, made it possible for man to have godly wisdom. Job 38:36  Who hath put wisdom in the inward parts? or who hath given understanding to the heart?

When you have God’s wisdom, and retain it, the rest of proverbs chapter three will give you discretion and confidence.

Proverbs 3:21  My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion: 22  So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.

True wisdom is from God and that through the Lord Jesus Christ. Do you have it? Would you hear what God said?

1Corinthians 2:12  Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13  Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
