Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs - Happy Is The One Who Finds Wisdom

Proverbs 3:13  Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. 14  For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold. 15  She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. 16  Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour. 17  Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. 18  She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.

Thew word “Happy” is the same word used in Psalm 1, however, it is translated as “Blessed”.

Psalm 1:1  Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2  But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3  And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

My friend, do you want to be happy and blessed? Finding and retaining wisdom is to be happy and blessed. Remember, the beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord. Along with wisdom is understanding. You must be born again to have this kind of wisdom.

There are so many blessings that accompany wisdom. Along with the fear of the Lord and understanding which makes wisdom more precious that any silver and gold and precious jewels, wisdom gives us length of days, riches and honour, pleasantness, peace, and the tree of life. All these things are more precious than anything this world gives you.

Proverbs 3:14  For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.

In this Proverb and in Psalm one the tree of life is mentioned. Who does not want the tree of life?

The tree of life is of God. The real happiness and blessing is for the righteous it is having the tree of life from God.

Proverbs  11:30  The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

The tree of life is obtained through salvation and realized in heaven. It is fist mentioned in Genesis.

Genesis 2:9  And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

It is also mentioned in the book Revelation with regard to heaven and those who will be there.

Revelation 22:2  In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

Revelation 22:14  Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

To have the tree of life is to have eternal life, to have eternal life is to have Jesus. To have Jesus is to have access to the tree of life.

Speaking about Jesus, the bible says eternal and everlasting life come from Jesus. John 3:15  That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
