Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs - Wisdom to Dwell in Blessings

Proverbs 3:23  Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble. 24  When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet. 25  Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.

In the earlier verses of proverbs chapter three we were enlightened with the foundation of wisdom. Wisdom comes from God and He is worthy of it.

Revelation 5:12  Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.

Revelation 7:12  Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.

Any other wisdom is the wisdom of man which is a natural wisdom.

1Corinthians 2:13  Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14  But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Living with and in the parameters of true wisdom, godly wisdom, is to live within the will of God. The wisdom of God is found in the Word of God. Living in the will of God brings so many things into one life.

We see there is safety in God’s wisdom; there is sweet sleep and a lack of fear in God’s wisdom. We see there is confidence and stability in the wisdom of God.

The Christian should not be afraid when God begins work in the lives of the wicked (The wicked being those who know not the Lord for they operate in worldly wisdom.)

Wisdom from the Lord brings confidence to the believer. If one would take the time to study the names and attributes of God one would gain great confidence for our confidence is in Him. Let’s look at a few; Jehovah means strong and mighty one. Elohim Raah - The Lord will provide, Jehovah Shalom - The Lord our peace; Jesus - Jehovah is Saviour. (Jesus is Jehovah for He is the Saviour of the world.)

Proverbs 3:26  For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken. 27  Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it. 28  Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee. 29  Devise not evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwelleth securely by thee. 30  Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm. 31  Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways. 32  For the froward is abomination to the LORD: but his secret is with the righteous. 33  The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just. 34  Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly. 35  The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.

God’s wisdom gives us some practical advice and admonishment for living.

We learn to be givers. We learn to be temperate. We learn to avoid strife. We learn to avoid the oppressor. We learn that blessings come to the righteous and to the just. Are you righteous and just?

To be righteous is to be born again. To be just is to be justified by God by believing in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 3:24  Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

Philippians 1:11  Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

The first step in obtaining the wisdom of God is to trust in the Lord Jesus, in doing so grace is bestowed and glory is the inheritance.

Proverbs 3:34  Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly. 35  The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
