Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs

Proverbs 16:1  The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD.

Every person proposes but it is God that disposes. God is ultimately in control.

We are talking about God’s sovereignty; God is in control, He created and He not only watches over His creation He controls it. You are God’s creation.

While God gives us a free will and free choice, every choice we make wether wicked or good ultimately leads to God’s will.

Everyone lives with a purpose. That purpose may be simple and short sighted for the moment only for self interest or it may be with goals and agendas set for prosperity or it may be for the long term and eternal pleasing of the Lord.

The truth is that every decision in life ultimately belongs to the Lord. Every person belongs to the Lord. And every knee shall bow before the Lord.

Isaiah 45:23  I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.

Romans 14:11  For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

Philippians 2:10  That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

Mankind may not like the truth, but the truth is that he was created for God and God is in control.

Revelation 4:11  Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

As said before, God gives us free will and free choice, every choice we make wether wicked or good ultimately leads to God’s will.

For those who reject the Lord the ultimate end is to stand before God in judgment and every decision, action and motive will be judged.

Those who are not born-again believers will be judged at the great white throne of God.

Revelation 20:11  And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12  And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13  And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14  And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15  And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

The born-again believer will also give an account of how they lived before God that judgment is called the judgment seat of Christ.

1Corinthians 3:11  For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12  Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13  Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.14  If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15  If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

Yes, there are two judgment seats, the great white throne judgement for the lost and the judgement seat of Christ for the born-again believer; one condemns to hell the other cleanses and commends to heaven.

When it comes to the preparations of your heart and the answer of the tongue, remember, ultimately the answer is from the Lord.

When making your decisions let the first one be of salvation trusting Christ and His shed blood and let the rest that follow be for His glory. You will blessed in doing so.

James 4:13  Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: 14  Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. 15  For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.

The choice is still yours,

Pastor Cook
