Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs

Proverbs 13:14  The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death. 15  Good understanding giveth favour: but the way of transgressors is hard. 16  Every prudent man dealeth with knowledge: but a fool layeth open his folly. 17  A wicked messenger falleth into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health.

The law of the wise is the law of God; any other law would be the law of man. God’s law, which is found in God’s word is the fountain of life. To depart from the word of God is death.

John 5:24  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

Every prudent person will deal with the knowledge of Christ and the will be given favour, the favour of God. That word favour is translated elsewhere as the word grace.

There is fruitfulness in the wise knowledge of Christ.

2Peter 1:3  According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 4  Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 5  And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 6  And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; 7  And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. 8  For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Now we come to verse seventeen.

Proverbs 13:17  A wicked messenger falleth into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health.

There are wicked messengers and there are faithful ambassadors for Christ.

A faithful messenger is health, life, and blessings to all who hear the message given by the faithful ambassador. Every Christian is an ambassador, one sent by God to tell the world about Jesus.

2Corinthians 5:17  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 18  And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19  To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 20  Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. 21  For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

After the new birth, being born-again, and after experiencing the blessings of the knowledge of God, God has given us the privilege of being His representatives. We are His ambassadors, representatives, in the world.

Mark 16:15  And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Luke 24:46  And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: 47  And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48  And ye are witnesses of these things.

Matthew 28:18  And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Acts 1:8  But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

My dear believer in Christ Jesus, are you faithful messenger, a faithful ambassador, for the one who saved your soul?

When was the last time you told someone about Jesus?
