Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs
Proverbs 14:2 He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the LORD: but he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him. 3 In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.
The every person’s life is an example of what they truly believe. The way they walk, the way they talk, all points to their core belief.
The righteous person’s walk is a direct demonstration of their relationship with the LORD. Their walk matches their talk and their talk matches their walk.
1John 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
The righteous fears the LORD and walks in such fear knowing that the LORD he or she fears loves them. This fear is a reverential fear a fear of an almighty GOD who is omniscient and omnipresent and sovereign and filled with love.
1John 4:9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. 10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
The person who is perverse and foolish despises the LORD and his mouth and life reveals such.
The word despise is also translated as contemptible, vile, contemned, disdain, and scorn. The perverse person eventually reveals these traits.
The perverse in heart may even appear to desire the LORD and may even talk of reverence, but eventually his true nature comes out.
I know of a doctor who attends a very charismatic church; he admitted that he attends for the clientele not for the Lord. I know of multilevel marketers who do the same thing. They attend church to gain acquaintance with people to promote their business when in reality they despise the Lord. They use the church for business and self rather than fearing the Lord.
The afore mentioned doctor admitted that christians are stupid trusting in God.
That is a good definition of perverseness and the rod of pride coming forth.
Luke 6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
Proverbs 14:2 He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the LORD: but he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him. 3 In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.
The righteous will walk in uprightness and his lips will preserve him. Their walk will match their talk and all will honour and glorify the LORD.
Psalm 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
Micah 6:8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
To walk humble with God one must first be born again.
John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
The choice is still yours,
