Morning Devotion: Read Proverbs
Proverbs 14:10 The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy.
Proverbs 14:13 Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth is heaviness.
The heart of each individual is different. We all go through trials, temptations, turmoils and tempestuous times that affect our hearts. We struggle with people, family, friends, circumstances and elements in life that affect our hearts as well.
When we try to explain these issues whether to family or friends, it just seems like they do not understand what we are feeling or what we are going through.
God knows that; proverbs 14:10 and 13 describe that very situation. Nobody knows what you are going through except you. Only your heart knows your own bitterness and only your heart knows the personal joy it has. Only your heart knows the sorrow behind the laughter and the heaviness behind the mirth.
Sometimes we put up a good front when deep inside we struggle with something that others cannot identify with and cannot understand. Our hurt is our own.
My friend, I have good news for you. Jesus knows. Jesus knows and cares and wants to be your help. He sees your heart, your struggles and your pain and is there for you.
2Chronicles 6:30b…(for thou only knowest the hearts of the children of men:)
Jeremiah 12:3a But thou, O LORD, knowest me: thou hast seen me, and tried mine heart toward thee:
I am reminded of a wonderful hymn entitled “Does Jesus Care.”
Does Jesus care when my heart is pained Too deeply for mirth and song-
As the burdens press and the cares distress And the way grows weary and long?
O yes, He cares - I know He cares; His heart touched with. My grief.
When the days are weary the long nights dreary, I know my Saviour cares.
Does Jesus care when I’ve tried and failed To resist some temptation strong -
When for my deep grief I find no relief, Tho’ my tears flow all the night long?
O yes, He cares - I know He cares; His heart touched with. My grief.
When the days are weary the long nights dreary, I know my Saviour cares.
Does Jesus care when I’ve said ‘good by’ To the dearest on earth to me,
And my sad heart aches till it nearly breaks -Is it aught to Him? Does He see?
O yes, He cares - I know He cares; His heart touched with. My grief.
When the days are weary the long nights dreary, I know my Saviour cares.
God’s word tells us Jesus will never leave you nor forsake you, He cares.
Hebrews 13:5b …for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. 6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
1Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
My Christian friend, when Proverbs 14:10 and 13 take hold of your life, and it happens to everyone, just know, Jesus knows your heart, He understand your heart and He cares about you.
Hebrews 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Do you have a friend like Jesus? Are you born again? Jesus is the only one who can see your heart and your need; He is the one who truly cares.
The choice is still yours,
Pastor Cook
